Iranian Navy's Submarine Tareq 901, Kilo class

The Tareq 901 was laid down by Admiralty Shipyard, St. Petersburg, in 1988; launched in 1991 and commissioned on November 21, 1992.

Three Kilo class, Russian type 877EKM, submarines were delivered to the Iranian Navy from 1992 to 1997. Tareq, the lead boat and the class name, Noor 902 commissioned in 1993 and Yunes 903 commissioned in 1996.

The boats are not equipped with SSM and SAN missiles although they could be retrofitted for it.
