Soviet Krasnogvardyets, D-3 submarine
Krasnogvardyets was laid down by Ordzhonikidze, Leningrad on March 5, 1927; launched on July 12, 1929 and commissioned on November 14, 1931. The Krasnogvardyets was later on designated D-3, September 15, 1934.
In May 1933 she was shifted to the North by the White Sea-Baltic Sea channel, remained in service until 1940 when she was shifted back to the Baltic for repairs. Back North for service later on in 1940.
During World war-II she was stationed in the North Fleet doing patrols and escorting Allied convoys. In December 1941 she is credited with a seven sinking there fore awarded the Order of Red Banner on Dec` 15-first in the Northern Fleet. In July 1942 she is assigned, as part of a task force together with K-21, K-22, SHCH-402, and SHCH-403, to escort and give cover to the well known, ill fortuned, Allied convoy PQ-17 bound to Murmansk.
On June 1942 she failed to return from patrol off the Norwegian coast, probably mined.

Construction
A total of six boats were built under this class, three Dekabrist D-1, Narodovolyets D-2 and Krasnogvardyets D-3 were laid down on March 5, 1929 by Ordzhonikidze, Leningrad; launched in 1928-29 and commissioned during 1930-31.
Revolyutsioner D-4, Spartakovets D-5, and Yakobinets D-6 were laid down on April 14, 1927 by Marti Yard, Nikolayev; launched during 1929-30 and commissioned during 1931.
