The first Spanish Navy`s submarine was named after the famous Spanish submarine inventor, Narciso Monturiol. The boat was laid down on September 28, 1915, at Fiat-San Giorgio, la Specia, Italy, launched, April 16, 1917; and commissioned, August 25, 1917.
