USS Cheyenne SSN-773, the last of her class Twenty years after the first 688- Los Angeles class submarine was delivered, the last, and the 62ed of its kind was brought to life when USS Cheyenne, SSN 773 was commissioned during ceremonies at Norfolk Naval Station`s Pier 12. Keel laid down by Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry-dock Co., Newport News, VA, on October 6, 1992; launched on April 1st, 1995 and commissioned September 13, 1997 with Cdr. Peter H.Ozimik in command.
