Italian Navy`s Carlo Fecia Di Cossato S-519, Sauro class
The Carlo Fecia Di Cossato is named after an heroic Italian submarine commanders of World War II, she is the second boat in the Sauro class, SSK costal submarines,design by Italy, and built by FinCantieri.
A total of eight boats are in the class delivered to the Italian Navy in four batches of two hulls each.
The Carlo Fecia Di Cossato was ordered in 1972. Laid down on November 15, 1975; launched November 16, 1977 and commissioned on November 5, 1979. She underwent her first modernization overhaul in 1990 taking new batteries with greater capacity, some auxiliary machinery replaced, and habitability improved.
