Kriegsmarine U-41, sunk by British destroyer HMS Antelope
The U-41, German long-range submarine of Type IX, was laid down by AG Weser, Bremen, on November 27, 1937; and commissioned on April 22, 1939.
The U-41 was attacked and sunk by British destroyer HMS Antelope in position 49.20N, 10.04W south of Ireland. The event took place on February 5, 1940 the German U-boat was depth charged taking all hands with her- 49 dead.
During her three war patrols she was credited with seven ships sunk for a total of 24,987tons and one ship damaged for a total of 8,096tons.
